The USB-COM is a USB to RS232 converter. It is designed to make serial port expansion quick, easy and simple. Connecting to a USB port on your computer or USB hub, the USB-COM instantly adds a RS232 serial communication port to your system. By taking advantage of the USB bus, the converter makes it easier than ever to add serial ports and serial devices, like DGH data acquisition modules, to your system with easy plug-and-play and hot plug features.
The converter is automatically detected and installed upon connection to the USB port. There are no IRQ & COM port conflicts, since the port do not require any additional IRQ, DMA, memory as resources on the system. The converter is powered by the USB port-no external power required.
The converter can interface any DGH ASCII protocol (not Modbus) RS232 module to a host using a USB connection. When using the converter with a DGH module DGH recommends its’ CA-3 cable. The CA-3 is a 3-foot serial cable with a female DB-9 connector and tinned wires ready for connection to RS485.
