 Streamlined verification testing

The MicroScannerTM Cable Verifier series simplifies the testing of voice, data, and video cable. It starts by taking results from what was four different test modes and displaying them all at once – graphical wiremap, pair lengths, distance to fault, cable ID, and far end device.  What’s more, it supports virtually any type of low-voltage cable testing with no need for awkward adapters.  The end result is reduced test time and technician error.  That makes high-quality installations more efficient than ever.

Rule out service problems fast
Today’s communications technicians have a lot more problems to deal with than just the cabling.  They have to rule out a whole host of potential cable and service issues before determining the cause of a connection problem.  The MicroScanner Cable Verifier series is equipped to answer the question to reduce time troubleshooting. Is there telephone voltage?  What’s the polarity?  Is there an Ethernet switch at the far end?  Is PoE available?  If PoE is available, is it enough to run my device? The MicroScanner Series acknowledges this, giving technicians the vision to verify today’s most common voice, data, and video services. That means faster, more comprehensive troubleshooting.”

 MicroScanner PoE Capabilities:

• Quickly determine if a problem is caused by a bad or unconnected cable, insufficient power, or a Powered Device (PD).
• Ethernet Alliance Certified to IEEE-802.3™ PoE standards for reliable multivendor interoperability
• Information for the Network Engineer to investigate potential switch configuration or malfunctions.
• PoE  Switch Verification – Determine if a switch port can provide enough power by reporting PoE class (0-8).
• Powered Pairs – Graphically identifies powered pairs. Including Dual Signature where the switch port delivers power on 2 or 4 pairs (802.3bt or PoE ++)
• Active Switch Detection - Determine if a cable is connected to a switch port and port speed up to 10G
• Cable Testing – Identify any shorted, open or crossed wires at both ends, length of each pair, and send tones to find cables.
• Validate and troubleshoot your Industrial Ethernet copper cabling
• PoE Injector verification - Display injector voltage level

MicroScanner Series Features:

• Straightforward Interface – Graphical wiremap, length, cable ID, and distance to fault displayed on one screen
• Multimedia Support – Tests all common media types including RJ11, RJ45, Coax(MS2 only), with no need for adapters
• IntelliTone Toning – Trace virtually any cable or wire pair with IntelliTone digital and analog toning
• VDV Service Detection – Verifies today’s media services, including 10/100/1000 Ethernet, POTS, and PoE
• Oversized Display – Large, backlit LCD makes results crystal clear whether in bright sunshine or a dark closet
• Magnetic Strap (included in MicroScanner kits) - Allows technicians to keep their hands free and their tester safe from potential drops and accidents with strong rare earth magnet

Tone GeneratorSupports toning and cable mapping with a Fluke Networks digital IntelliTone™ probe. Generates four tones compatible with typical analog probes. SmartTone™ feature gives positive identification of cables in bundles when using an IntelliTone or an analog probe.
Ethernet Port DetectionMicroScanner2: Detects the advertised speed of 802.3 Ethernet ports with speeds of 10 Mbps, 100 Mbps, and 1 Gbps. MicroScanner PoE: Detects the advertised speed of 802.3 Ethernet ports with speeds of 10 Mbps, 100 Mbps, 1 Gbps, 2.5 Gbps, 5 Gbps, and 10 Gbps.
Wiremap TestDetects single-wire faults, shorts, miswires, split pairs, and up to seven far-end adapter IDs. The wiremap is drawn with proportional length to visually indicate the approximate location of faults.
Length TestRange: 460 m (1500 ft)
Resolution: 0.3 m (1 ft)
Typical accuracy: ± 4% or 0.6 m (2 ft) whichever is greater. NVP uncertainty is an additional error.
Calibration: User-settable NVP for twisted pair and coax (MicroScanner2). Can determine actual NVP with known length of cable.
