Supported Applications
The Omega DMD4059 Series is a field-rangeable, isolated signal conditioner designed for bridge and strain gage sensors. The series accepts inputs from one to four full Wheatstone bridges (100 Ω to 10,000 Ω) or pressure transducers, filtering and amplifying millivolt signals into linear DC voltage or current outputs. Documented applications include load cell weighing systems, strain gage pressure transducer monitoring, and tank level or flow measurement.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The DMD4059 operates within an ambient temperature range of -10°C to +60°C (14°F to 140°F). The module provides full 3-way isolation (input, output, and power) rated at 1200V for ground loop elimination. Accuracy specifications include better than ±0.1% of span linearity and stability better than ±0.02% of span per °C within the ambient temperature range.
Response time is typically 70 milliseconds (14.2 Hz). A DF option provides a typical response time of 10 milliseconds (100 Hz). The unit features an adjustable excitation power supply selectable from 0 to 10 VDC in 1 V increments, with a maximum output capability of 10 VDC at 120 mA. Load resistance is specified up to four 350 Ω bridges at 10 VDC.
Configuration Options
The series supports DIN rail mounting in an enclosure rated IP40 (IP 40). Dimensions are 0.89" W x 4.62" H x 4.81" D (22.5 mm W x 117 mm H x 122 mm D), with a weight of 159 g (5.6 oz). Electrical connections utilize four 4-terminal removable connectors supporting up to 14 AWG wire size.
Configuration options include:
• Power Supply Options: Standard models accept 85-265 VAC, 50/60 Hz or 60-300 VDC. The DMD4059-DC variant accepts 9-30 VDC or 10-32 VAC.
• Output Signals: Configurable DC voltage outputs include 0-1 to 0-10V, ±5V, and ±10V. Current output options range from 0-1 mA to 4-20 mA (Sink or Source).
• Input Ranges: Supports bridge inputs with sensitivities from 0.5 mV/V to 40 mV/V, covering input ranges of 0 to 5 mV through 0 to 400 mV.
• Calibration Options: The M01 option includes a switch with an internal calibration resistor; the M02 option provides a switch for external (load cell) calibration resistors.
The module features field-configurable input, output, excitation, and zero offset settings via rotary switches. A test button is included for diagnostic purposes.
