In lift construction, Ex magnetic sensors are preferably used to position and control the lift car. They are preferably used where mechanically actuated limit switches no longer work well enough, due to unfavourable operating conditions such as high or low start-up speeds, high operating frequency, extreme exposure to dust and dirt, high moisture, chemical atmosphere or major fluctuations in the actuation distance. Reliable contacting is ensured even with corrosive media as the contacts are encapsulated. The Ex magnetic sensors are actuated without contact by a Series M permanent magnet. The devices are available with an NO contact, change-over contact or bistable contact. All Ex magnetic sensors described in this section are supplied with a preassembled cable. When using Ex magnetic sensors, ensure that there are no magnetic fields in the surrounding area.
