Configure

The MPS11 has been designed with both safety and ease of operation in mind, making it ideal for use in education. Supplied with a safe, spirit filled mercury free thermometer, the low toxic blue spirit will not pose a health hazard in the event of a breakage. Easy to follow instructions are printed directly on to the apparatus and are available in most European languages. With a manually adjustable heating rate, the MPS11 will rapidly heat samples up to 20°C (68°F) per minute to the melt temperature and up to the maximum temperature of 250°C (482°F). Accurate readings to within 1°C (34°F) of the melt temperature can be achieved by using a slower heating rate of between 1 and 10°C (50°F) per minute. Up to 3 samples can be viewed and tested at any one time. Samples are illuminated by a bright white LED and viewed via a magnifying lens. The magnifying lens can be detached for cleaning using the simple to follow instructions printed on to the instrument.

Melting Point Tubes
Made from soda glass, these tubes are easy to seal in a Bunsen flame and cleanly break in two. Supplied in a robust tube holder, pack of 100 tubes. Tube overall length is 100 mm Tube diameter = 1.9 mm (0.07"), inner diameter = 1.3 mm (0.05") and wall thickness = 0.3 mm (0.01")
• Easy to Operate—Ideal for Educational Use
• Supplied with Safe Spirit Filled Thermometer
• Economical Price

Supported Applications

The Omega MPS11 Analog Melting Point Tester is designed to determine the melting point of solid samples. The apparatus accommodates powdered samples placed in capillary tubes, which are inserted into an aluminum heating block for observation through a magnifying lens.

• Determination of melting points for solid materials
• Educational laboratory use

Operating Conditions & Performance

The MPS11 series operates within a measurement range of 50 to 250°C (122 to 482°F). Accuracy is specified as within 1°C (34°F) of the melt temperature. The device features a manually adjustable heating rate, capable of rapid heating up to 20°C per minute.

• Measurement range: 50 to 250°C (122 to 482°F)
• Accuracy: within 1°C (34°F) of the melt temperature
• Heating rate: up to 20°C per minute
• Ambient operating conditions: +5°C to +40°C, relative humidity not exceeding 80%
• Altitude limit: to 2000m

Safety and Electrical Ratings

The unit is rated for indoor use in a well-ventilated area with an IP Rating of 40. It complies with CE and RoHS standards.

• Power supply: 120/240V, 50/60 Hz, 50 W
• Overvoltage category: II IEC60364-4-443
• Pollution degree: 2 (IEC664)

Configuration Options

The MPS11 series is available in two primary voltage configurations, each supplied with a spirit-filled thermometer and a pack of glass melting point tubes. The apparatus allows for the simultaneous viewing of up to three samples via an illuminated magnifying lens.

• MPS11-120: 120V model
• MPS11-240: 240V model

Available Options and Accessories

The series supports several optional accessories to extend functionality or replace consumables:

• MPS11-SFT: Spare thermometer, spirit filled, 0 to 250°C (32 to 482°F)
• MPS11-PLUG: Cooling plug (brass) for rapidly reducing heating block temperature after use
• MPS10-TUBES: Glass melting point tubes, closed at one end, pack of 100
• MPS40-TUBESSEALED: Glass melting point tubes, closed at both ends, pack of 100
• MPS11-TUBESOPEN: Spare glass melting point tubes, open at both ends, pack of 100

Key Product Differences

The primary distinction between the stocked variants is the mains voltage input. The MPS11-120 operates on 120V, while the MPS11-240 operates on 240V; both share identical physical dimensions of 370 W x 140 D x 110 mm H (15 x 5.5 x 4.3") and a weight of 1.7 kg (3.7 lb). Both models include instructions printed directly on the apparatus in most European languages.
